Why is it that ‘anchor babies’ are entitled to free health care?

Besides that fact that they are U.S. citizens what else gives them the priviledge to free health care?

“About every six months the population of the U.S. Increases about as much as the population of Tallahassee. Who are these hundreds of thousands of new citizens? They are newborns, children of illegal aliens born in the United States – birthright citizens, “anchor babies” – not illegal aliens. This quirky legal right then allows the mother’s parents and siblings to remain, and later a whole bunch of their relatives to immigrate legally. …
Just consider Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, the second busiest maternity ward in the U.S. In 2006, 70 percent of the women giving birth in Parkland were illegal immigrants. That added up to 11,200 babies for which Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million to deliver these babies, the feds another $9.5 million and Dallas taxpayers tossed in $31.3 million. The average illegal patient is 25 years old and giving birth to her second anchor baby. We could also talk about California, but you get the point.

By law, illegal immigrants cannot be denied medical care based on their inability to pay or their immigration status. These women also receive free prenatal care, medication, car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.

The U.S. And a few other countries offer citizenship to anyone born on their soil. The United Kingdom and Australia abandoned this practice in the 1980s after being abused by immigrants for many years.”

“Here’s an example, outlined in the spring issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, that will boggle your mind. Cristobal Silverio entered the states illegally in 1997 to work as a fruit picker, bringing with him his wife and three children, all illegal aliens. The following year Mrs. Silverio gave birth to a fourth child, and with that birth the family had an “anchor baby”—an American citizen by birth, who provided the entire Silverio family with a free pass to remain in the United States permanently. Unfortunately the baby was born prematurely, spent three months in the neonatal incubator, and cost the San Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, the oldest Silverio daughter married an illegal alien and gave birth to her own anchor baby, and then Cristobal’s wife gave birth to yet another baby.

Anchor babies are United States citizens from the moment they’re born, and they instantly qualify for public welfare aid. And over 300,000 anchor babies become citizens each year in the United States thanks to the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside.” The two Silverio anchor babies generate $1000 per month in public welfare funding for the family; the premature baby gets $600 a month for asthma, and the healthy baby gets $400. The Silverio family earned $18,000 last year for picking fruit, and the government gave them another $12,000 for their two anchor babies.

Most illegal aliens do not have medical insurance. But lack of medical insurance doesn’t mean they don’t get medical care when they need it. Because of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985, hospital emergency rooms are required by law to treat uninsured people without reimbursement whether or not they have insurance. As Cosman writes, “Anchor babies born to illegal aliens instantly qualify as citizens for welfare benefits and have caused enormous rises in Medicaid costs and stipends under Supplemental Security Income and Disability Income.”

So to answer WHY, it’s because the federal government REFUSES to do its actual job–secure the borders. It also refuses to correct the ERROR of pretending birth place equals citizenship–as Europe finally got right so the PCers out there better not scream “bigotry” because that would be European-bashing.

Rolling out a red carpet of freebies attracts illegals. This is done at everyone’s expense, including the waiting would-be legal immigrants who wait years to come here legally and CONTRIBUTE to society. Illegals tend to put their country of origin first and send the money they get illegally back there as well. They take jobs our unskilled high school dropouts SHOULD do so that they decide to get an education or learn a trade.

It’s just bad government.

I will be under my parent’s health insurance effective Jan 1, 2011 – will my baby be covered?

my baby is due April 26, 2011. Will he be eligible to be under my parents policy with me or will I need different coverage? If so, any suggestions? I live in California.

Sarah Fields answers:

No, the baby will not be covered under your parents policy. Groups policies do not include grandkids except in very rare circumstances.

You’ll need to look into getting your own policy after the birth and placing the baby on your policy. The reason for this is, because of the healthcare reform act, the insurance companies have stopped writing child only policies so the only way to get the baby covered is for you to get off your parents’ plan. In fact, having your own policy may be less expensive than being on your parents policy.

Your only other option would be Medicaid, which is available as a child plan if you are very low income.

How do you feel about making mexico a State?

Sarah Fields answers:

The situation in Juarez, Mexico is worse than in the middle east. People are thinking about sending the illegals back : how can anyone think of making mexico a state? Mexicans dont pay taxes, they dont pay for health care. California is in serious trouble and has huge debt, lot of healthcare based institutes have collapsed because mexicans produce babies and also take medical benefits (which costs thousands of dollars) without paying anything. California is the eight largest in the world if you consider it as a country. But look at it now, it is going down the drain. Anyone who wants to make mexico a state should instead go to mexico. The mexicans are making it hard for legal hardworking immigrants to extend visas. In most cases highly skilled wrokers who pay taxes and insurance (those with PhD’s) have to wait 5-10 years to just get greencard. How can anyone just thinking of granting the illegals citizenship or make mexico a state? If you like high crime, love gangsters/ drug dealers then making mexico a state would be ideal. And i dont understand the stand people have against Arizona law. It is already there in federal law that aliens have to carry paperwork. Arizona is merely re-enforcing it..If anything, Canada would be a better state, they are weak too. Without US, Canada would probably have been invaded and taken over by Mexico , lol just kidding. Ans yea, lot of people give the excuse that Mexicans are poor but nice people, and they are just coming here to
earn some money. Well they are displacing jobs here. If they are nice they should stay in their country. The fact that they are entering the country illegally for money means that they are greedy. And please: they dont have good family values. Look at new mexico (state in USA beside Texas) : it has highest teen pregnancies and single mothers. Why you ask? The nice illegals and their kids are making more babies. Same is the case with other states with high percentage of illegals. And kids raised by single mothers have high chance of being a criminal. I am not bluffing, if you want to argue , provide facts not personal attacks.
