Chris asks…

How much does a contact fitting exam cost?

I have in the L.A county in California and I was wondering how much it would cost just for the fitting for contacts? I’m under 18 and I have health insurance. Does this affect the cost of the exam?

Sarah Fields answers:

I’m under 18 and was fitted for contacts, and if I’m correct I believe it ran me about $40.00, I want to say? I’m in Texas though, and optometrists everywhere are different. You could try calling around and getting some figures down to compare, unless your insurance has you go to a specific optometrist. Hope I helped! :)

John asks…

Is there Low Cost Health Insurance for a 60 yr old?

Is there Low Cost Health Insurance for a 60 yr old? I am shopping around for health Ins. for my mother in law, is there something in California, that’s not expensive. Can i get medical or something? Please help.

Sarah Fields answers:

I don’t know what you consider “low cost”. Plans with higher deductibles have lower costs. If you are in good health your plan will have a lower cost. However, with Health Insurance you get what you pay for, and the plans that have the lowest costs make you feel good until you actually have to get medical services.

Most people get their insurance through their employer. The cost will mainly depend upon how much the employer contributes.

Medi-cal is the California welfare health program. Your M-I-L can get it if she qualifies by income and assets and the only way to know for sure is for her to apply. Here is their website: http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal/pages/default.aspx

Mary asks…

What should I do if I have social anxiety and depression and I dont have health insurance?

What should I do if I have social anxiety and depression and I dont have health insurance? Where can I get free treatment or meds?I live in California.

Sarah Fields answers:

I agree with the last answer you received, pot or alcohol is not the answer. Look in the directory for free help. People donate money for these kinds of cases all over the US. They donate to help people that cannot afford the high cost of doctors, and medication. You’ll have to research a little, but in the long run it will pay off….
Good luck, and don’t listen to the others.
