Steven asks…

Have the people spoken or will Obama get his government controlled health care?

Sarah Fields answers:

WE THE PEOPLE (i.e. True U.S. Constitutionalists) are just getting warmed up. WE will not stop until HR 3200 is DEAD in part, parcel & as a whole.

The myopic ignorance of the ANSWERERS on this site is appalling.
‘PATRIOT': Go felch in that liberal-muslim festival you have in your public pools across the pond.

The health care issues that the USA faces have been over dramatized, but there are concerns that can be efficiently addressed without centralized health care, which would be a disaster:

I) Allow Health Insurance to Be Sold Across State Lines – under current archaic 1945 state & federal legislation the process for companies to do this is astronomically expensive and WE ARE PAYING FOR IT as taxpayers & consumers.

II) Make All Health Insurance Premiums Tax Deductible – this simple change to the tax code would literally level the playing field overnight for Americans whether they are employed, self-employed or unemployed. It would bring premium costs down between 25%-50%.

III) Make all Health care Providers and Especially Pharmaceutical Companies Disclose their Prices and all discounts given off these prices.

IV) Allow International Competition for Pharmaceuticals in the USA – again a no-brainer for so many reasons; FDA approved foreign drugs, wow, what a concept…our prescription costs would look like the inexpensive ones in Canada.

V) Protect Bankrupt Families from 200 to 500 Percent Medical Bills – part of the code needs to be amended which concerns the preclusions of Medical Expenses & Credit Card Expenses (as they MAY relate to medical expenses).

VI) End Federal Lifetime Health Benefits for Congressmen, Senators, and Government Officials – how can these elected people objectively help us WE THE PEOPLE if they have no stake in the very system they are attempting to legislate for us? WTF!?

VII) Allow the continued expansion of HSA’s & High Deductible Health Insurance Plans which are already having a dramatic effect in lowering health plan costs.

VIII) Complete Tort Reform in other states besides California. Now that awards in medical malpractice suits in most cases have been limited to $250,000 USD, all the ambulance chasers have left & falling insurance costs reflect that here in CA.

The real number of true HEALTH INSURANCE UN-INSUREDS IN THE USA IS CLOSER TO BETWEEN 11 AND 16 million people, not 46 million which is a GROSS MISINTERPRETATION OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

How Americans Get Health Insurance:

Type of Health Insurance % of Population

Employer-sponsored 51%
Uninsured 15%
Medicare 15%
Medicaid/public 15%
Individual/family policies 4%
TOTAL 100%

The reality is that there are over 26 million individual Americans who earn enough money to afford a lower cost individual policy, perhaps with an HSA. They just are not aware of how to find them. There is a majority percentage of another 12 million adults with 2 million children (families) in the same category.

SO BEFORE YOU NUMBSKULL LIBERALS SCREAM ABOUT OBAMA-CARE, LEARN YOUR FACTS &, GEE, MAYBE YOU”LL SEE THAT ‘OBAMA-CARE’ IS SIMPLY A VERY BIG NWO SOCIALISTIC POWER-GRAB THAT WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT NEED OR WANT.

Peace, out

Mark asks…

Has your health insurance gone up under Obama Care?

Our Health Insurance Premiums are going up $200 more a month next yr. due to Obama care. Has any ones else gone up? Peace out Yall!

Sarah Fields answers:

Going up 16%.
Just read that they may be going up as much as 35% by the end of next year.
There is no way republicans are going to let ordinary people take this much of a hit.
Hopefully someone will stop this abuse to the American People.

Allow people to open their own tax-free Health Savings Accounts that they can contribute as much as they want to. Allow everyone to have health coverage, but make the deductibles extremely high.
Ex: Income 50K a year – deductible 5K a year.
The deductible will have to come out of the HSA.
These accounts will never expire (not an use it or lose it deal).
And can be used in retirement…

John asks…

according to my understanding of the HSAs, your premiums can be paid pre-tax?

According to IRS doc: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf, insurance premiums can be paid out of the HSA account, therefore tax free.

Is this correct?

Thanks!

Sarah Fields answers:

Absolutely not. You can pay long term care, dental, but you CANNOT pay for the plan itself. If you’re self-employed then it’s tax deductible anyway.
